Awning watch: “Licence to Clean”
Did anyone notice that one of the awnings we regularly clean appeared in “Spectre“?
A key scene was shot with three members of MI6: M (Ralph Fiennes), Q (Ben Whishaw) and Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) inside and outside London’s oldest restaurant – Rules in Covent Garden.
The film crew used a special sprinkler to cascade water on to the restaurant’s awning, creating the illusion of heavy rainfall.
Incidentally, we recently cleaned the Rules awnings again in preparation for a “Downtown Abbey” scene.
